Flashcode Decoder

Post by ASTRO_25 »

Hi Folks,

Anyone have any feedback in regards to the "interactive" flashcode decoder on trunkedradio.net ?

http://www.trunkedradio.net/cgi-bin/flashcode.pl

I'm getting ready soon to migrate it to a new version (no updates, just integrated with the rest of the web site)

So, if you would like to see some changes, additions etc, please let me know!

It would be nice if I could put the flash code in as one string and have the software auto split it. Would be easy to tell by the length of the string if the person used '-'s or if it was the straight flashcode. Quite often I want to check an eBay flashcode and it's a pain to piece it out. Not a biggie, but would be nice! Keep up the good work, your website is excellent! It's an awesome resource!

I would really like to see you leave the other page avalible, so that people don't have to trek through the site to find it. If you were willing, I wouldn't mind a copy of the perl script you use to do it, that way I could talk to the powres that be, and intergrate it into the batlabs site.

Either way, keep it as a simple and clean page....

Just my $0.02.

Great suggestion on the single string issue, I might be able to provide both mechanisms if both are needed.

I'm also thinking about expanding the decoder to include model numbers for ASTRO equipment, that would be pretty easy. Plug in the model number, and get back all the necessary info.

Alex, I'll leave the page intact, probably just use a redirect. I need to get rid of all the old CGI based stuff and move it to a module in PHP. You'll still be able to link to it directly without having to go thru the whole site to find it.

Ok, I finally migrated the decoder to a module:

http://www.trunkedradio.net/modules.php?name=Flash

Redirects are in place from the old perl script.

Now you just plug in the simple string:

xxxxxx-xxxxxx-x

Alex, you might want to update the links to the new flash decoder so folks aren't going thru the redirects all the time.

I'll pass it on to Bat, as I don't have any control over the main site.

Thanks! :)
