saber "T" band to "UHF High"

Post by mooshoo »

Hi everyone; :(
I recently bought a Saber 1 “T” band secure capable radio to replace my non secure UHF high saber 1. I removed the “T” band modules and plugged in my UHF high modules from the previous radio when I tried to create a 458-490 profile to program the newly built radio the RSS says that the core Id's don’t match.
Is this just a case of finding a codeplug with the correct core ID i.e. 6D or is there more to this procedure.
Also where is the channel info / core ID stored on the motherboard or in a module ???
Thanks
Brian

Hi Brian:

1. As indicated, do you have a List of what Modules
were in your radio [ Piror ] to you changing them out?

From there, what was the 3 or 4 Modules you replaced?

2. When dealing with Sabers, any Hardware Change will
REQUIRE a New RPF to be built AND will need to MATCH
the Range of the Modules you installed...

In extream terms, if you have a 403-430 Mhz Saber, and
you want it to work in the 438--470 Mhz band properly, the
403-430 Modules will end with a [ 1 ] the 438-470 Mhz
modules ( generally ) will end in [ 2 ]

From there, [ Depending ] on your installed hardware, you
can Select the New RPF, load it into the radio, and make the
needed adjustments.

It would be desirable to have a Service Monitor for this
Purpose and the associated test Box, but you should be able
to get close.

CORE is stored in the Microprocessor on the Main Transceiver Board (Mu'tha Board)

Sounds like the CORE is different between the two Sabers you have there.

Are you using 6D or 8D options in your older radio?

Reading both radios and looking at the Radio Info should reveal the CORE ID and any differences. I don't think a Codeplug can change the CORE as this is in the Hardware. 6D or 8D options can be enabled through the Codeplug though (if the Mainboard is at that level.)
