Question on backlight of spectra a9 head

On this A9 head, the backlighting on the 9-button dtmf pad on the right side of the display (as well as the attached DEK) are not anywhere near as bright as the main buttons (volume, mode, etc.). Is this normal? Or should all of the backlight be at the same level? I'd prefer the latter, as it does make the buttons somewhat harder to read at night....

Yes, they should all be about the same brightness unless they are starting to go out. I had the same problem but my fix was to open the head up and clean the dirt and crap from under the buttons and off of the board. It made a big difference!
