Mr. Data, can you make anything of this message?

No, sir. Captain, the universal translator does not return any results on this. In fact, the ship's computer is now more confused than when it began.

Open a hailing frequency, perhaps they can speak a different language than we can all understand?

eBay at it's finest:
Me: "What exactly is a 900Mhz UHF CB?"
Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"

I think what he is asking is: Why can't you use a button to get into "scan program" mode in trunking like you can in conventional mode.

You can set up a B5 model (if that is the one with the limited keypad) to go into the scan program, but I cannot look at my XTS 3000 to see how they did it. Remember, though, that I understand it to be within the zone only, and no radio-wide scan capability

Some experts need to weigh in here........

If that is the question, then you can add PROG to the menu keys. Perhaps the problem is the Scan lists for his trunking modes are not set for OP SEL. If they are set for fixed, then they are not programmable. Also, if the current mode you have selected does not have a Scan List associated with it you won't be able to program it (nothing to program).

So, make sure the mode you select has a Scan List assigned to it (F4-Change, F4-Trunking, F4-Personality associated with that mode). Also make sure that Scan List is set for OP SEL (F4-Change, F3-Radiowide, F5-Scan List for the scan list assigned in the above step). Make sure the appropriate fields (Pri 1 Member, Pri 2 Member, N PRI members) are set for OP/SEL instead of fixed.
