DTMF tones

Post by BrentLA »

Is there a way to make the AS3 send out the A-B-C-D DTMF tones? I haven't been able to figure this one out. M says it can't be done, but we know that they have been mistaken once or twice...

Any help?

Thanks!

M is correct---you can't do it. You've got 12 keys for DTMF, not 16.

Too bad they don't support MF Tones (instead of DTMF). Now, that would be REALLY KEWL!

Also, don't forget that when you are operating in the digital mode, the keypad is sending data for each of the keys (not analog DTMF, as it does in the analog FM legacy mode). For digital P25 IMBE ops, the DIU 3000 will convert these data transmissions into DTMF analog tones at the MRTI jack on the back of the DIU. Then, you set the duration of these analog DTMF tones via the DIU RSS commands. The default is 100 msec for long and short tones, but it's fully programable. The DIU can pass these DTMF tones to the MRTI2000, or any other ancillary device to your liking. Works really well!

Thanks,

I was really hoping that I could program the RAC or Singletone options with some workaround. I only rarely need to use one of the letter keys and thought perhaps I could make SOMETHING work... I guess I just have to keep the second radio on hand.

Singletone would not work anyway since a DTMF tone is by definition two tones simultaneously generated. The radio will not do that.
