ASTRO PL/DPL...what if?

Post by mikegilbert »

Hi All.
I was just thinking about it. We all know in this day and age of FRS talkabout congestion on the airwaves. The pl tones on analog radio will keep radios quiet for the most part.

My question is: Is there a way to filter out unwanted transmissions while using an ASTRO IMBE system?

If I'm talking on simplex IMBE 440.000mhz with a friend on one side of town, and some other guys are using the same freq. also IMBE, is there a way we can keep our transmissions seperate besides using encryption?

Thanks.

That's what the "Network ID" is for. It acts like a PL/DPL, and only radios with the same network ID will unmute for the conversation. By default, all radios are set for network ID 293. You must change that to some other value in all the radios you wish to talk to seperately. You can still be monitored by other radios using the Digital CSQ option.
