Saber III Scan Problem

I have a Saber III and I can only scan with the PL open. Is there a way I can program the radio to scan w/ the PL's closed?

The experts may have more to add, but in my recent experience in the Saber learning curve, I believe that with the Saber you are stuck with PL on the non-priority channels, and CSQ only on the priority channels.

The workaround that I have reluctantly adopted is to enable fixed second priority, and leave the 1st and 2nd priority channels blank (Program as bank 00)in the scan lists.

This saves you from listening to CSQ noise an dtraffic, but costs you priority channels, and two scan list positions.
