xts3000 ptt id alias question

Post by Jay »

Ok, I recall reading that you can not alias IDs on a trunking system or digital system to a name in your PAGE list. (Correct me if I am wrong)

I am, however, trying to alias MDC IDs. I want the persons MDC ID to show up as their name or whatever in the PAGE list. Is this possible? Or am I stuck just decoding the raw data?

I will mention another annoying MDC feature on this radio - it decodes the IDs for about a 1/2 a second, so if you blink, you miss it. My MTS2000 at least leaves it up for a couple of seconds. I've tried adjusting the setting for this under DISPLAY, without any real change.

Thanks

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

Ok, you can alias call/page. If you have 1234 in your call list as "TEST", and you receive a mdc packet of 1234, it will only show 1234.

As far as I know, only the newer PRO radios 1250/1550 etc support the aliasing.

I believe you can enable aliasing for sites on a trunking system, but that's about it. Remember, this line of radio is geared towards law enforcement and fire work, not the causal user. In reality, no one is going to watch the radio all day to see who is talking, which is one of the reasons why it was not included (so I was told by the M rep). Yes it would be a nice feature, but dept's found it to be unnessary.

For the ID delay, that is adjustable thru RSS.
