HT1000 monitor button

You have signalling, PL, or wrong PL enabled in this radio. Check to see if you are using PL on your repeater. If so what PL tone? See if this tone is programed correctly into your HT1000. If the PL is correct, check to see if you have signalling enabled as "and" in the radio. If it is, change it to "or" or eliminate signalling in receive.

NOTE: some repeaters do not transmit tone (PL or DPL) on the "tail". So even if you had the correct PL or DPL code in the RX, you would not hear the repeater during the "tail" AKA repeater dropout time or carrier delay.
Most community multi user repeaters do not transmit a PL or DPL code on the "tail".

And note also that many repeater controllers are programmed to send no tail at all, with or without tone, unless the input keydown time has exceeded a certain value. This is designed to discourage key clickers seeking self-check radio checks, which are quite annoying to the console operator (and other users).

I figured out that I had to enable it to carrier squelch for the rx, and I can hear the repeater fine without having to press the monitor button now.

Because the repeater does not send tone?
