Does anyone know how to buy this software from Motorola, they don't want to talk to me about it without spending 1000.00 Are there any Motorola Dealers that would be willing to sell a fully licenced copy of the software so that I can program the radios for our police dept. The local Motorola shop will not sell it.
I DO NOT WANT BOOTLEGGED SOFTWARE
Thanks

Motorola is the ONLY source for legal RSS. There are NO other authorized distributions.

And no, they don't want a thousand dollars to talk to you.

Call 1-800-422-4210 and request an RSS license kit, which is free. Fill it out and send it in. You will also have to open a customer's account which doesn't cost anything. When you get your license agreement back, countersigned, you can order the RSS...ANY RSS...(special titles like lab versions excepted) at any time.

It's actually very cool. You get two or three years' worth of free updates on your software, which means they send you a new update package a couple of times a year.

You need a $1,000.00 minimum order to open a NET 15 Account unless you're a Public Safety or Governement organization. You DO NOT need to open a CREDIT account to order software. They will assign an Account number to you the first time you place an order which makes it easier to get service, tech support or place more orders. I used a credit card before I had a credit account. Like Elroy said it is actually worth it because I had a major problem with Astro 8.6 (lead to the release of 9.00.01) and they worked with me to fix the problem. If I had bootleg software I would have been screwed.

OK, Howard, I've got to ask: What problem did you encounter with 8.6? I haven't actually found any problems yet. Well, one, but it wasn't anything really serious and could be dealt with.

Well I contacted the phone number given and I have the license package on the way. It will cost only $375 for the software with the next two years of updates. And if I want to sell parts or become a dealer I can with a starting order of $1000. That isn't a bad deal for Bat wings.

I could read XTS-3000 type 2 radios but could not proram or save the file, type 1 non display radios worked fine. Apparently I was one of the first to report the problem, it was a conflict that only applied to T band radios and certain computer configurations. I could dig the letter out and paste it on here for you, it explains the exact problem and the fixes. The cool thing about it is they sent me Beta Software about 2 months before they released 9.00. I would have never have upgraded from 7.5 if it weren't for the fact that a few radios were sent back for warranty work and when they came back they had the latest version in them.
