What is MODAT

what is MODAT signalling and does the mts2000 vhf have it? Also is there a way to add a vocoder board to an mts2000?

MODAT is a signaling option in ASTRO radios. AKA the LAPD sound or the "Turkey Gobble", MODAT is ONLY IN ASTRO Series radios and the OLD MT500's *I think* As far as I know. There is no way to get a MTS2000 to do MODAT, I already Tried....

Modat will also work in the old Motorola MX radio's like the ones that LAPD used befor they went to the Astro Saber.

I believe that the Syntor and/or Syntor X also supported it, but not the Syntor X9000.
