Voice inversion on Astro

Post by CAPTLPOL »

No one has ever answered the question on wheter voice inversion would work well or at all with APCO-25 digital. Well how would it work? Has anyone put a voice inversion board on their ASTRO digital radio?

Ummmm.... why?

Is the purpose to encrypt? Just buy a module.....

My feeling is, the voice inversion module would have to be before any astro vocoding. As long as it's not a rolling code, because it looks for, and sends a data chirp to let the other end know to change codes. I would imagine the chirp would get distorted or possibly eliminated.

With that being said, however the voice inversion "usually" sounds plus "astro sound" = what it would sound like.

Would it pass through an Astro Quantar?

silly perhaps, but it would be cool to hear the inverted audio after being de-IMBE'd but before being de-inverted. lol

Well it might make some Uniden scanner idiots think that it is encrypted and therefore they would not bother to monitor the transmission.

By tossing in ACTUAL encryption hardware in it (DES, DVP, AES), will also make Uniden Scanners unable to hear it. Plus you don't have to tear apart a perfectly good astro radio....

Either voice inversion or UCM would be encrypt it....

Well I take it that no one has tried it on here. Just wondering how the inversion would pass with digital, i.e. sound quality. Sounds like I will have to pioneer this myself.
