Tell me what it will do

Post by SCFR »

Could those great ones on the forum please help me out with a breakdown. I've run the flashcode and I've seen what's in the radio, but every post speaks about baud rate, ibem velsp an others. This is a Xts type III 800mhz. It has des-xl and dvp something onboard and the original firmware from 1997. Flash code is 5410040000009. JUST WHAT WILL IT DO? thanks SCFR

Not a whole lot, not the 9.6k control channel:

Options Installed on this Flashcode: 541004 - 000000 - 9

Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H868/W969 Multikey Operation
G170/H43 Remote Monitor and Radio Trace
H37/G60 Smartnet Operation

I wish I had this flash-code for 800Mhz

If you want it in laymans terms, here goes. Your radio is both analog & ASTRO digital capable. The type of ASTRO digital your radio will do is IMBE, as opposed to the older VSELP type. Your unit is both conventional & Type II SmartNet trunking capable (generally single site or sometimes AMSS/Simulcast multi-site). It is not SmartZone/Omnilink capable, which is essentially a wide-area roaming type trunked system. Your radio is secure equipped, and can hold several encryption keys at once (up to 5, I believe). Your radio will show ID's (or alias', if so programmed) from other radios on the trunking system(s). Your radio will respond to remote monitor & trace commands, which is basically a way for system administrators to check on the status of your radio (on/off, in/out of coverage) without you knowing.
If you need further details as to what terms such as Type II trunking/Astro/VSELP/SmartNet/SmartZone, etc mean, I suggest reading whatever you can find on BatLabs, and using the search functions on both this forum & Google.
