XTS 3000 s meter help

The display screen on the xts 3000 appears to have an s meter like the ht 1250 does, how do I get it to work??? I have astro CPS (purchased from Motorola), so I can get in and program it, I just can’t figure out what to do to make it work. Anyone have any ideas?

If you are talking about the bar graph like say a cell phone has on the right side of the display? you are thinking about the xts5000 radio the xts3000 don't support that option.

Yes, that is what I am talking about and it is there, I see it on power up. It is on the far right part of the screen. The radio I have is an XTS 3000 mod III Any ideas???

My Model II 800 meg digital does display; the only thing I can find that is even remotely close is in CHANGE/VIEW:CONFIG:RADIO OPTIONS
under Radio Wide Options: Out Of Range: Alert and Display is what I have on mine.

Don't know if that is only to beep and display "Out of Range" or if it might just be what has to be "on" to see the little antenna symbol with the bar graphs.......

Again the xts3000 don't have it on the other hand the xts5000 does there is not even a option in the rss for that on a xts3000 a xts5000 even has a menu key for clock that shows the time and date.

I guess I am confused then as to why they would put it on the display screen if there was no way to turn it on.

I have 2 xts3000 I just turned them both on I think your confussing the battery line on the left side of the screen as being what you are talking about? When you turn on the xts3000 you will see 4 symbles from left to right.

No, It is on the far right and it is the same as the s meter on the ht 1250, the batt grah is there also. Also another member sent me a message that his does do this, so what I what to know is how. Does this mabey requier a flash upgrade?

My XTS 3000 Model II has an approx. 1" X 1 1/2" 4 line display; the top line appears to be for symbology.

On the far right hand side of the upper line, there is a little "umbrella"-like symbol (looks like the universal schematic 'antenna' symbol) with bar graphs to the right of it. The bars get taller as they go further to the right.

I am sitting here, listening to a trunked system, and the signal strength symbol is there.

When I remove the antenna, the signal strength symbol goes away in a few seconds (probably when RSSI tells it the signal is poor), and I get "OUT OF RANGE" on the display.

It is not the battery symbol; that is on the left.

So I have a couple of conclusions and a couple of suppositions:

- Yeah, it IS supported on the XTS 3000.
- NO, it is NOT the battery indicator.

- It might be from the RSSI, and dependant on the trunking system you are on.
- It might come from digital systems only, and not work on analog.

That's a indicator used while in trunking mode, it's supposed to let the user know if they are within range of a trunking system that of course their radio would be set up to use. It's similar to theindicators used on some of the Cell/PCs handsets that lets the user know when they are within range of service. It has an antenna symbol and a rising bar graph meter. It comes up on the display very briefly during radio power up and he is correct, it is in the far upper right area of the display.

Ok you may be right about you only get that when the radio is set for apco25 digital. Could very well be I know I've seen it on a xts5000 radio.

Ok, thanks, does anyone know of any way to get this to work in a conv mode??? Thats what I am tring to do, if it will work.

I'm contemplating getting either an AS3, or an XTS3k... in either case, the radio will be on a digital system. If I end up going with the 3K, where in the RSS would I enable the RSSI indicator for a digital system?

Never did find a place to do that......

It might be like oregano......it's in there whether you want it or not. But it is only on trunked systems. When I put my XTS3000 on a conventional channel - no signal strength meter when I xmit and get a repeater signal back.

We have XTS3000 Model III radios. Yes, when you power-on the radio, an antenna icon is displayed at the far right of the dispaly, with a signal bar graph at the right edge. It goes away after the start-up self test.

Keep in mind that the XTS3000 is an ASTRO Saber in a Jedi case, with an IDEN display. It could be that the XTS BITE has some "borrowed" code from Motorola's NexTel IDEN units, and/or since it is an IDEN display, there are some hardware issues involved.
