The XTS 3000 standard battery used to be the NTN 8299A, which is a NiMH battery rated at 1700 mAh @ 7.5 volts. I see that Motorola also has an RNN 4006 NiMH battery for the XTS 3000 rated at 3500 mAh @ 7.5 volts.
Does anyone know if this RNN 4006 battery is any larger (thicker, etc.), and/ or heavier than the 1700 mAh battery?
Seems strange in that the prices are nearly the same.

Multiplier has a M8923-HX at 4000 MaH that works great, I have seen tons of them in use by the Feds and man state and local law enforcement, I heard that there were problems with the W&W version (post by Yosh some months ago) and most of the others including alexander are now getting the stuff offshore, so check out Multiplier and BUY USA (Maybe they will pay me for this) LOL

The NTN8294 Ni-Cad and the RNN4006 NiMHi batteries look identical and are virtually the same thickness @ approx 0.83in. The RNN4006 feels much more solid (dense?). On my cheapy postage scale the RNN4006 checks in at about 15 oz. whereas the NTN8294 is less than 10 oz.
We call that 3500 maH battery "The Horse" (as in workhorse) since it lets our more talkative users run twice as long between battery changes.
Your third option here is the NTN8610B Lithium Ion battery which is both lighter and thinner than the Ni-Cad at about the same capacity. It weighs less than 8 oz(again - on my cheapy scale) and measures about 0.565 thick. It really gives the XTS a different feel.
