When did Motorola discontinue the ASTRO Saber? I take it that the only ASTRO Portable that can now be ordered new from Motorola is the XTS series?

Thanks, Xmo. I had heard the Fed Boys saying that the ASTRO Saber was a dead duck, so know you've provided the clarification. Guess it's out with the boat anchor, and in with the new, svelt XTS! (She's only a bit heavy around the thighs, guys! I call her "Stockey!" Don't say she's fat, Boys! It hurts XTS' feelings, 'ya know?!)
Always brings tears to ones eyes when The Big M finally shoots a long lived product like this! Reminds me of when I saw the "Intent To Cancel" big, huge bold notices on the Micor, HT-220, MX, Minitor III, etc.
Just like Motorola to respond to r0f like they did---Busines as usual, until you try to order it in a month or so, and then, Waamh, Pow, Boomb, SHOCK! Just hope you're not the unlucky sucker who ordered a new ASTRO Saber in December---You know----Fat, Dumb and Happy and then: DISCONTINUED, and 'ya blew $5k a pop for a DISCONTINUED radio. Been there, done that---NEVER again! I learned to ask a lot of folks, and then be educated before writing the big check!
The ASTRO Saber deserves an elaborate funeral, as it was a really nice product. I guess the only good news here is that now we will be able to get 'em a whole lot cheaper on eBay, the day after Dec 31. It must be psychological or something, but as soon as you carry around a Motorola portable, or have a Motorola mobile in your car, that has been Discontinued, the KEWLness/mystique factor is no more. It's like having a crystal MX or something. The good thing is that this phenomenon should quickly do wonders for the price plunge of ASTRO Sabers (which is good for us penny pinchers on this Batboard). I, for one, would prefer to buy a new copter for my business, as opposed to spending a ton of money on some hugely expensive Two-Way radios! But, with AES rapidly becoming a requirement to bid on contracts involving the need to to talk with The 3-Digit Fed Boys, NEW XTS radios will probably be required! (Unless I can upgrade my VoCons?) OUCH!!
