I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm wondering if a JT1000 will work with a convertacom? If so, where do you guys think the best place to get one is? Thanks.

At the risk of sounding obvious.....EBAY !!
Set yourself up a favorite search on motorola +mtva with an automatic email notification. They pop up on a fairly regular basis. As a matter of fact, there are a couple available as we speak. Remember that the control units are band-specific.
Will it work?
Well, there I can't help you. Never had a JT, so I don't know if all the accessory connector pins are the same as an MT/HT. Hopefully, someone else with more experience will answer that one for you.

The JT will work just like the HT in the MTVA.
You should be able to Rx OK, but don't fool around when you Tx or the FCC will put you on KP and then you'll be MIA.
On the serious side:
Remember to set the battery size using the selector on the side of the cradle.
There are other variables, such as if you have the external speaker, etc., but that's another topic.

Protect the innocent, persuade the undecided, refuse the rest
There are at least 2 types of MVA for the jedi's.. with amp, and without..
the MVA's without the amp are not band specific.
Rock-N-Roll radios has some for sale, see http://3rd-st.com/digitac/used_radio.htm
(I'm not associated, but i bought one a while back, very clean, and good folks to deal with)
