Hello, all. The Waris series is very familiar to me but I have never come across this problem before. My coworker gave me his VHF HT1250 and told me it was shutting off whenever he transmits. I have it in my possession and it is doing exactly that. Whether I use the PTT on the radio itself or on the speaker mic, the radio will shut right off and won't power back on until I turn the knob off and then back on.
Any suggestions whatsoever before I open it up and see what I can find? Is it possibly a software problem? Should I reload the TANAPA and start with a fresh radio?
Thanks in advance for any help!

This might sound silly, but have you tried a different battery? I've seen the Waris portables do some pretty crazy things with a defective battery.

+1 especially if someone has monkeyed with the low battery setting with tuner.

I'll 3rd that comment. We see that a lot here when the batteries have gone south. Check the date code on your battery. If it's several years old I'd wager that is the problem.

Definitely the battery, I have seen this all time, on portables and mobiles of that era, power drops and the radio shuts down
