Astro-P ???

#1 Does anyone out there have an Astro w/H99 option. This is QCII from what I hear.

#2 Will a T-3011DX support the XTS series?

#1 - Never heard of it, but would love to know if its a vaild option for the Astro Line

#2 - Yes. Any keyloder with a "DX" or later suffix will work with the Astro line

After I initially got my AS and CPS package, I spent a good deal of quality time on the phone with the folks over at Tech Group. I came away with the following answers:

1) QCII is not a supported feature. I had heard of the rumored "H99" option, but, after a lot of book digging through at several different levels, no one has been able to find any mention of it.

2) The CPS help files talk in detail about MDC aliasing. It's just something that got carried over when they cut-and-pasted the help files together, and can not actually be done.

Regarding the question on KVLs for ASTRO line: The T3011DX will only support the legacy type encryption, such as 56 bit DES-OFB. These old keyloaders do NOT support the newer encryption types, such as 256 bit AES (Advanced Encryption System). You need a KVL 3000 for the new AES.

Just looked over an RFP this weekend involving helicopter support for a 3 digit Fed agency. It REQUIRES P25 WITH AES. Things are moving rapidly in this area.

If memory serves. DES was orginally developed by the US as a standard. Its been around as long as DVP has been.

It may not be illegal for someone in CN or somewhere else to get it, but it may be illegal for a US person/agent etc to send it out of country without authorization. I believe I remember someone here posting a link or USC statute that says the same.

I placed an order for a new KVL 3000 last week---no problem.

BTW, it is NOT smaller than a T3011DX---if anything, it's a tad bit bigger.

Not sure why the reaction from the guy thinking it looked funny, etc.---the KVL 3000 is UGLY! (But, highly flexible and the only way to support the new standard-AES.)

The KVL3000 also uses Visar batteries, I wonder what other pars M recycled? Can't wait to take one apart.
