MRTI Mode

Post by ASTROMODAT »

Another question for Professors XMO and/or XDC:

Regarding the interfacing of a MRTI 2000 to the DIU3000:

After thoroughly reading all of the applicable manuals and RSS docs, it APPEARS that I need to configure the MRTI 2000 for enhanced simplex VOX mode with digital delay. My MRTI 2000 will connect to the DIU3000, and then the DIU3000 will connect to the Quantar repeater via a 4-wire 3002 C5 circuit, with ASTRO modems at each end.

I can't see any reason why the MRTI half-duplex mode shouldn't work (which is obviously far superior to enhanced simplex VOX mode) since I am running a repeater, and I have a full duplex interface to/from the DIU! The RSS for the MRTI/DIU configuration defaults to SIMPLEX VOX, but perhaps Motorola is assuming a Base Station configuration, as opposed to a Repeater set-up, and/or they assume a Console environment lash-up that has a half duplex (as opposed to full duplex) connection to/from ther Quantar? For that matter, wouldn't my arrangement support the L1159 MRTI in the FULL DUPLEX mode?

Larry

P.S. The GAI (the folks that bought out Instrument Associates) ITI-6000 patch (aka the drop shipped MRTI 2000) is being replaced in 1Q03 with the Zetron Model 30 Worldpatch, with APO, Selective call and digital delay options. The latter is needed for enhanced simplex VOX mode.
