I' m interested in Elroys' method of monitoring
smartzone without the chance of letting the radio affiliate.
I have a couple of questions.
(1.) Our system (Marin County's) has 18 channels
with four control channels that will alternate every day.
(2.) Do I put all the channels above the 17th. or just the
control channels?
(3.) What, if anything, do I put in 1-16; Astro, conventional, would
HAM be O.K.?
(4.) How would I I.D. the talkgroups?

Thanks in advance for all the help.
This place is killer.

If there are only 4 control channels, and trunkedradio.net shows no more sites, then you can/should program the radio as Smartnet because SmartZone (unless you have it as Smartzone after programming all the control channels [up to 32] then switch the system type back to Smartnet or "disabled", the extrac control channels will stick) Does not allow affiliation on PTT which is what you want over automatic affiliation.
