Astro Saber "PL Defeat" switch ????

Post by ScannerDan »

On page 41 of the Motorola Astro 2 & 3 user guide it states that one of the button's can be programmed as a "PL Defeat" switch. I can't find any reference in RSS version 9.05 to program the switch under the radio wide buttons and switches.

thanks

The radio, however, can be programmed for Monitor, which is the same thing. You've got two different monitor types, "silent" which removes RX pl, but keeps the squelch closed, while the other opens the squelch to listen for signals in the static.

OK, presently all of my Astro's are programmed with the upper large button as a "Monitor" with static. How do I program it as the "silent" w/out the RX PL ?

I forget exactly where (whether it be conventional radio-wide config or somewhere linked from the conventional radio-wide screen) an option for PL type is displayed- one being silent monitor.

you can program the astro saber for pl monitor but you must use the a/b switch not a button. the xts is the same a,b or c and, again not a button. in the convt radio wide config is where you set the monitor to silent. I use this feature like the "hold" key on a scanner. set the latch time to .5 of a sec and press the button you set to it and you have a hold button.

If you're referring to monitor, as in with PL or DPL, then yes you can program it to a (side) button. You can program the monitor for PL defeat or open squelch, which is then when you get that static. I forget exactly where it is... F4/F3/F2 I think....
