Out with the evil UHF, in with the fine N!

Post by Jonathan KC8RYW »

I have a two Motorola Moxy mobiles... one VHF... one UHF... that will be soon fall victim to a cross-band repeater project of mine.

But one thing is for sure: those OEM chassis-mounted UHF connectors have to go.

Here is what they look like:

Does anyone know a maker/model number for a very similar style connector of these, in N?

I'm kind of worried about finding a direct replacement in N, especially since I also have a convential 800 MHz Maxar80 sitting around that has the same type of UHF connectors on it. Who would have thought Motorola would think a PL-259 was acceptable for 800 MHz use? Oh, well.

I know someone has to know. Thanks.

Check out:

9N looks like a close match.

Be sure to look for the proper depth on this.

I picked up one at a Hamfest and it turned out to be too deep.

I plan on converting both my Icom 2800H's to "N"'s eventually

Anytime Jonathan........

Let me know if you find a source that does not have a minimum order. I figure these would go for around $5.00 and I only need two.
