Muting encrypted audio on trunked system

Post by Dan9655 »

Does anyone know a way to mute encrypted audio on non encrypted radios on the same talkgroup on a trunked system? Some radios are encrypted for obvious reasons and it sounds like irregular static on other MTS2000 radios on that same talkgroup. Any help would be appreciated..Thanks!

The only way I am familiar with DES muting is with an encrytion module installed in the radio and set to proper code detect.

Radioman2002 is correct. Any organization I've dealt with keep their encrypted & clear talkgroups seperate, for this exact reason.

For operational reasons, you wouldn't want to have the feature you're seeking, since it would lead to a non-secure operator, unaware that a conversation is going on at the time, trying to key on the talkgroup. Depending on the trunking mode selection, this could cause interference.

As the other fellow said, the design convention is to keep secure and non-secure comms on separate talkgroups.
