I got ahold of a UHF p110 recently and was in the process of setting it up as a backup UHF portable. I've tried to adjust the mic gain in the service functions, but it hasn't seemed to help it sound any better. If you are not really close to the mic, you can't be heard very well, and it's terrible once the audio is repeated. Any suggestions on other things I can do ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi:
We will assume your RSS Parameters are set
properly.
Many times I have found Dirt & Debrie in the
small access hole where the Mic is located in and around the front grill.
Also, sometimes if the radio gets dropped to many times, the Mic Element may need replacing.
They are pretty sensitive, and I have replaced 100's of them.
If you can get ahold of another housing, you can easily make a A-B comparison to see if the mic element is bad, or try and get a External Mic, try it...If the External Mic
works OK, then the internal Mic is hosed
