R2670 problem in P25 with encryption

Post by mike m »

I have 3 R2670s with the same problem, 2 are 3 years old one is 2 months old. When I run P25 with DES or DES-XL encryption while testing XTS3000s I have to push the monitor button on each XTS3000 to get the audio to unmute the R2670s tx signal. The keys are Ok and no problem getting the R2670 to accept them but once I hold in the monitor button on the XTS3000 I can decode the DES or DES-XL just fine.

With The XTS3000s talking to each other I do not need to do this as they unmute fine, when I put the XTS3000s and the R2670 into P25 mode without the DES or DES-XL the squelch unmutes on each XTS3000 just fine. I have tried XTS3000 that are 3 years old and some that are 1 month old with no changes.

Also the R2670 unmutes and decodes the XTS3000s every time so there is no problem transmitting to the R2670 only when the R2670 is transmitting to the XTS3000s in P25 encrypted.

I have set up the XTS3000 mute/unmute rule every way possible and still no luck on opening the audio path on the XTS3000s when I am transmitting with the R2670s in P25 with encryption.

Anyone else see this problem with R2670s ?

Do you have the original manuals that came with the analyzers? There should be a card in one or all of them, with the contact information to get a hold of someone in the Motorola Communications Group (or something like that), in Scottsdale, Arizona. The person I've dealt with there is Becky Watts. She is very knowledgeable & helpful, in my experience. Sorry I do not know anything about your problems myself, but she likely will.

Yep

I wasn't able to post a reply until just now but I talked to Brett down in General Dynamics engineering in Scottsdale after I posted my first enquiry and he informed me that there was an upgrade that just came out a month ago that addressed the issue of loading encryption keys in P25 mode. Oh well on the newest analyzer I only missed it by a month, fortunately the upgrade is free and it's getting hot down in Phoenix and those guys love to come up with any reason to visit Northern Arizona so maybe I can get them to come up and upgrade all my analyzers next week.
