What radios do you own?: Radar Range

Post by JAYMZ »

A person refered to by some as "Nick" that builds Astro radios from parts and uses a somewhat loaded flashcode to make it live..... There are a few here that have bought directly from him and others that have radios built by him. The XTS I have came from him by way of Yosh and is a solid unit.

There are others here that can vouch for him better for different reasons. I have never dealt with him directly.....

What radios do you own?: XTS5000R, Astro Saber III, I

Post by MT2000 man »

I have bought an astro saber III from him 9-10 months ago. I paid about $1200 if I remember right. Excellent deal, I think, because he included programming (88 channels, which takes some time to do), antenna, and battery. A good deal in my opinion. Plus, he definatly stands by what he sells. I have talked to him over the phone as well. Very nice guy.

I have two Nick radios and I have friends who have them up around 10 - 12 total. No problems from any of us. Nick is the best. 100% customer service.

it's simple.. it would seem that there are more neg's than pos's with this guy... cust service goes a long way i don't care how cheap he is...during that last thread i was looking for a reply from him to defend himself.. nothing.. i'll spend more money from some one i trust than get a radio from someone i dont for less money
thanks guys...

I called Nick on thursday last week and order a XTS 3000 VHF and it was in my hands the next day on Friday by 10:00am the next morning. Good job Nick.

My next one will be thru Nick.

If you don't buy thru him it's your loss.

It's not his "customer service" that's the problem - I haven't heard anyone say anything about any problems getting anything fixed. I think he sells radios that don't need fixing.....

It's the initial delivery that has some people up in arms. You know, instant gratification. If that's what you're all about, then go somewhere else.

But if you want a great (virtually brand new) radio at about 1/3 the going price and are willing to wait up to 30 days, then Nick's the guy for you.

Just my 2 pesos worth.

Well Shaun (r0f) even though the radio showed up right away and is working great and it is really loaded, turns out he is very hard to deal with and he tells you one thing then does another. We are starting to have problem but they should go away tomorrow, if not I will fill everyone in on the details. As for now the radio is a sound radio at a great price.

ok... well if..

if you want to wait that long i guess thats 's ok... if you say you have an item for sale thats means it's liqiud- in a box ready for shipment but perhaps there other reasons why it takes so long.... i know some dealers wait till they get an order for a number of units.. then ship them all out at the same time.... who knows? when the time comes if he has what i'm looking for ... and i don't mind waiting.... and the price is right i'll give him some business from what i hear all his merchandise is pristine ..

From what I have read and heard about Nick (aka Apcosystem) is the only complaint people have had is with his customer service before he ships the radio. Sometimes he is slow, then misinforms you about when the radio has shipped, etc. He might make it easier on himself by advising his clients what the delay is for, then keeping them informed on the order status as it progresses. But I have to agree with Shaun and the others about his after sale support, that the general consenus is EXCELLENT. He backs up what he sells, will go the extra mile to make the customer happy.

His customer service is crap, his emails are confusing to say the least and you can never get a straight answer from him on when and if your radio shipped.

I wish he charged an extra $100 per radio and used that extra money to hire somebody to look after the shop while he concentrated on building the radio. This extra person could answer emails and let people know when and how their radio shipped.

That said, I bought a Nick radio and he shipped it next day. There was a problem with the radio and he next day shipped a replacement part with no questions asked.

You'll get your radio (eventually) and I'm sure you'll be tickled pink with it.
