having trouble re-configuring astro saber

Post by chiefops »

preparing to visit LA and updating my astro saber since last visit during astro transition last spring. i have found that though i have plenty of space to add personalities, (not using all 255 personalities) i cannot add channels to zones that curently have less than 16 channels programmed. anybody have an answer to this?

I can't say definitively if this is the answer or not, but I ran into a similar problem with my XTS and basically wound up saving my current NY codeplug and replacing it with one that would allow me to receive in LA.

No matter what I did to 'futz' around with the NY CP, nothing I did would allow me to go beyond the 12 channels I had set up in one zone. I did make sure though that the zone (zone 1) where I only had 12 channels was replaced by a zone that had 16 channels.

I hope this helps or provides some sort of insight.

Regards,
Mark

That sounds like a weird problem. Chiefops, are you using RSS, or CPS? Which versions? I'd like to take a look at the codeplug, if you wouldn't mind sending it to me:

Maybe I'll figure it out.

well i think i figured out the problem- there were actually 2.
1) i couldn't delete any channels or zones...i discovered i had to delete the corresponding scan lists that contained any of the channels i wanted to delete before i could do that, so i deleted every scan list.

2) i had a few zones that had more than 16 channels in them. since this radio has every option/feature known to man, i assume i was dealing with a memory issue, and yes, it's 1 meg. once i deleted any channels higher than 16 in those zones, i was able to add the channels to the remaining zones, like robbing from peter to pay paul.

so yes, i could not keep all my nyc metro area stuff and all the lapd stuff in the same radio without deleting some stuff, so i will maintain 2 seperate archives, mind you i only have about 220 of 255 personalities, but some are duplicated in several zones.
