what part of the radio holds the firmware, dsp and flashcode ???? the controller board ? If i get a new controller board for my xts3000 does the flash, firmware come set on the board ???

if not what exactly does the controller board hold ? serial number etc

I have located a used controller board and i want to make sure that i am not going to have to get everything upgraded.

When you order either a vocom or command board both the host and DSP must match on both boards. Both parts boxes have a flashcode, host and DSP numbers on them. Circle M will ask for these features when you order your parts.
On a new command board, when you get it from M you will need to enter the serial number on it. Any number. After that you may program the radio. The board will be using the latest version of software from M.

Enjoy
