Weird scenes inside the goldmine AS3 UHF

Post by nitornemo »

Here's a weird one....

Got my hands on an AS3 uhf lastnight (THANKS WILL :D )

I can prog anything from 438 to 480+
Tx very nicely in the BIZ/News/Ham/GMRS/FRS(LOW Pwr)/etc...

It WILL NOT Tx on 449.1000
I tried bumping the Tx by 0.005 to 449.10500 and the reverse with no luck.

anyone else have this weird :o happen?

You said you can TX Tx very nicely in the BIZ/News/Ham/GMRS/FRS(LOW Pwr)/etc...

Can you transmit at all below 449.000?
Does the radio make an error beep when you try to PTT?
How about the LED in top? Does it even light up when you PTT?

Does the radio even receive the 449, even though it won't TX there? Try programming the radio for 449.000Mhz for RX and TX (simplex).

Oh ya, make sure that personality/channel your having problems with is not setup for receive only. :D

Hope you find a solution to this weird problem your having, as the AS3 is a fantastic radio. Welcome to the AS3 club :)

Good luck

Good luck

It Tx's and Rx's from 438 to 481, I have 70sum odd channels in it now.
We have a ham repeater here on 444.1 and I've set up 2 personalitys(sp?) for this repeater, 1 with signaling and one without. Both are setup with T/A off the forward lower button.
I can Tx/Rx well on the T/A(simplex on the output) but can NOT Tx
on the repeaters input. when I try i get about 3 seconds of the Tx light and a split second flash of the VCO Fail 001.

I have Ham repeaters either side of this freq that work flawlessly.

Like I said, I tried shifting the Tx freq(1 and 2 presses of the arrow keys, I forget the actual freqs) up and down to see if it would lock but no luck.

Thanks for the reply!
(BTW this is my 6th AS3 :D )
and I have a Watchbuddy XTS due(soon I hope )

just a thought

could the 449.1 be the VCO cross over freq?

causing the flash FAIL 001 indicates the synth is going out of lock for a split second...

might be worth a check

Abso- :o ing-Loutly!!!!

Had to do quite a bit of moving (in the wrong direction) until I found the right place!
The Cross over was at 449.5MHz after going up(the wrong :o way)
I found 448.5MHz to work on ALL of my programed channels.

THANKS to Doug (here) and WillB(from OnTheAir) :D :D :D
