Astro Encryption Question

Post by coh1 »

Does an Astro Saber need to be "flashed" for an individual encryption algorithym or will the radio automatically recognize the type of encryption hardware installed and accept the appropriate key? Also, when a dual encryption algorithym is used, is multi-key required? Thanks in advance.

It will recognize the secure hardware that is installed and I believe you do need the multikey option flashed in order to use it. Otherwise you are stuck with the single key.

Yup, the radio needs to be flashed for multikey in order to load more than one key into the radio. I believe that ALL encyption boards for the ASTRO line will support multiple keys..I know that at least ver 0.60 encyption boards and above will support it.
