MT1000 w/ MDC front cover programming question. Please help
I just purchased a 99 channel VHF MT1000 with the MDC front cover. I am able to READ the data from the codeplug and front cover data fine. I am also able to program the codeplug data(channels, pls, etc) fine as well. The problem comes in when the RSS attempts to PROGRAM the front cover data. It will not program the front cover data. The RSS gives me a serial bus access error 006. The MDC front cover functions and emergency button works as it should but I cannot change any of the signalling options(MDC code, keyup or dekey, etc). If anyone has any ideas that I can try please let me know. Thanks.

Make sure that you are using a slow PC. I have run into problems with this before as well as on the X9000 radios. The radios were made in the mid to late 80's, computers weren't as fast as they are today, and alot of people try blasting all of the information in on the latest computers. It is almost wort having a $20.00 computer dedicated for software. Believe it or not, a 12.5MHz machine is great! Hope this helps....
Well, I AM at fault for going a *little* too fast with my 486/50 notebook. The codeplug reads and writes fine, but the front cover will not program. Since the radio programs, but not the cover, I am hoping that my programming platform is suitable. I dug up some old posts that stated the MDC covers were picky about which options were enabled in the RSS. As I understand: If, for example, you program an emergency button MDC cover with the man-down option (that it does NOT support) the front cover will fail to accept any programming. All of the options enabled in the RSS *must* exactly match the capabilities of the front cover. I haven't had any luck with this yet but I may try creating a codeplug with the MDC signalling options I want and try dumping that into the codeplug. BTW the front cover reads just fine, it just won't program.
