2003 Ford Explorer

Post by gmgrant »

I am planning on installing a Uniden BC-780 in my 2003 Explorer and looking for ideas. My favorite position right now would be below the air/heat controls and above the cup holder / storage area. This is an area that is empty and should fit it perfectly, assuming there is nothing behind there.

Has anyone tried this? What about mounts / brackets on the passenger side of the console near the floor?

Also need to mount a slimlightre in the rear window. Any thoughts on mounting and routing of wires?

Anyone have any experiences with the 2003 0r 2002 Explorer? I would love to see some pics.

Thanks in advance.

The main tray just below the heat and A/C controls just pulls right out very easy. And for the slimlighter in the back window Alex had a good idea that he did on his truck. The little headboard retainer thingies (I have no idea what they are called) come out and you can drop a short bolt through to put a mounting strip on and mount everything to that. If Alex could chime in to clarify that might help a little better. I think he may even have a few pictures. I saw how he did it last week and I think it is quite clever.... (Go ahead Alex stroke the ego...I complimented you :P  )
