Ignition Sense on CDM1250
Hello. I am replacing a CDM1250 with another CDM1250 on an ambulance. The original one was wired to come on with the main power switch. The other one I am putting in will not come on with the main power switch. I tried changing the programing with the software, but got nowhere. Can anyone help? Thanks. Henry
If I remember correctly, you need to select Ignition Sense Type to “Disabled”. This setting is under the “Radio Configuration" > “Accessory Configuration”.
The radio should now come on with the radio’s on/off switch.
If you select “Follow Ignition Only”, you need to wire accessory pin 10 to a switched power source or the main power source for the radio if this is switched. Now the radio will come on whenever power comes on. The radio's power switch has no effect this way.
Nand.

Feed B+ into Acc. pin#10 through a 1A fuse.
In 'radio configuration, set it up for 'follow ignition' and also power switch.
I learned that if you have it set for 'follow ignition only', the radio will shut off i the battery switch is turned on, off, and back on fast. Once on again, the radio will be off. Have the option to power the radio with the switch, if possible.

I wish Motorola would have put a Pull-up resistor in the Ign Sense line like on their cell phones. This has been one of the biggest on-going pain-in-the-butts for us. Yes I know the accessory connector works, but customers that move thier radios around soon mess up those fragile little connectors.
As a matter of fact.. if you look in the CDM service manual, there is a pull-up resistor shown, but it is not placed
