Converting UHF Astro Saber I to III

Post by KE9XB »

I understand from the previous discussions, that I could convert a AS II to a AS III, by purchasing a new case and reprogramming it with a AS III code plug. Can I do the same thing with a UHF AS I?

I think converting a model "1" to a model "2,3" is a little more involved.. you need to change the controller as well since the controller for the model 1 is only 32ch...

I Think! I do not know what else if any is involved...

I have done this maybe a dozen times! You'll need a Three front sheild, and three housing. After you have assembled this on the one's chasis you will need a three codeplug and a good version of lab, now program the radio and do any alignments needed and you have a hacked , parts built Astro Saber three.
