VHF Astro Saber

Post by ExKa|iBuR »

Hey all.

I'm in the market for a VHF Astro Saber, either Model 2 or Model 3.

I don't really know anything about these things, so I'm looking for some advice from you guys.

I want it to be able to do Type II trunking, IMBE and Analog. Anything else is just a benefit, rather than requirement.

Any idea how much I can expect to need to set aside for this? As well, how does the AS compare with the XTS series? I was looking at an XTS3000, but personally, I like the look of the AS better, but if the XTS is a better radio, then I'd probably go for it instead.

Thanks for your help!

You may want to bid on the following:

Dang.

Nice find Bugs...

With all the accy's that are included in that package, that's a pretty decent deal.

If this continues on an ebay trend, it'll get moved to the lounge.

Mostly, an XTS and Astro saber are comparable in features. You can use either radio for just about the same thing, just the XTS might do a couple more things over the AS because they are a currently supported radio. But they are functionally pretty much the same.

Guess the seller had a bad bidder or he had two identical radios. Anyhow it appears the radio has been relisted.

I know the guy selling the radio. The bidder hit 'Buy it Now' and then said it was a mistake. Looks like a case of cold feet to me. At any rate, the radio was relisted.
