i noticed the other day that the accy flyer for astro spectra specifically listed the DTMF mic as "NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ASTRO SPECTRA"

so

question-- is there a DTMF mic for the astro spectra or not?

will a "regular" DTMF spectra mic kill the Astro or what?

The analog spectra DTMF mic generates DTMF from the mic itself which is not really acceptable for use with an ASTRO Spectra. It would probably work fine for analog use with the ASTRO but usage while digital will not work correctly. When you send DTMF via ASTRO you actually send it through the digital overhead channel rather than the tone over the air. The DTMF gets mangled enough for it to be undeterminable at the other end.
