I have an older saber speaker mic that works with my astro saber. The only difference would be in the antenna adaptor. The saber doesn't that that "pin" in the middle of the inside connector...so if you screw in an unmodified s/mic in, you will most likely destroy that rf pin.

When I get home from work at 7am, I will post the model number of the speaker mic, and I will dig up the adaptor for the retro fitting the s/m.

Considering I took the speaker mic off a working Saber 1, and pluged it into my Astro Saber 3 and it works, I would say at least the one I have works great.

I am not sure what you are referring to about the long/short reference.

I have on my UHF radio NMN6166C which is the square speaker mic with the ear piece connector. On my VHF I have the NMN6217B newer typical round looking speaker mic with no options.

I am trying to dig up a part number still for that antenna adaptor, however all the online manuals do not show a part number for that.

*UPDATE*
Called parts ID, they say 4305909W01 is the adaptor for the AS.

Item number. 4305909W01
ADAPTER ANT
Unit of Measure: 1 EA
$9.28
