Parts built rados and Flash key generator???

Post by FMROB »

Okay, So I am going to throw this one out here cause I am really interested. I guess over the years that the JEDI series has been out all of the users have devised ways and means to upgrade and trick this series of radio. If it be using lab. creating codeplugs from scratch, using s-records to force feed etc, etc.

So here is my question to the members. With the newer series of radios out (xts) and the flashport evolution how do people build these radios with all those features. What I mean is to take all the components of an xts and assemble, but when it comes to initializing the radio with a "whored out" flash code, how is it really accomplished.

I have heard metnion to a factory utility "flashkey generator" that could be floating around. Could this be what is used?

At best, screwing with the newer, higher version mts radios was dicey. Not all functions worked, or worked properly after trying to field upgrade, so how is tis done.

Thanks, Happy Holidays

P.S. This question arises for the need to upgrade a model I xts 3500 with imbe to do trunking,,,,So I am just curious.
Also....I know all about the flash updates from moto for features. But with everything on this board, we are all in pursuit of making things "usable" and atainable for the regular joe with small pockets.

Sorry bro, but the 3500 is conventional only, no trunking...

Better off to sell and find you a 3000.

Well, there exsists Astro Lab 9.0.5 or something like that which lets you make any flashcode you want...basically turning an XTS3000 with NO flash options (Conventional, Analog) into a fully-loaded Astro, SmartZone Omnilink with all the goodies.

This Lab is extremly rare, but a few people have it (and no, I don't, so don't ask...)

Okay, Thanks for the reply.....Baring that the 3500 doesn't do trunking, lets say it was the 3000. I never knew lab existed, and that you could create a trunking radio like that.

Thanks, Rob
