I am selling a Astro Saber III to a guy, the problem is he is in Hong Kong. The question, is it legal to ship an IMBE radio to Hong Kong, I figure it's not, but I thought that I would try and get some input on it.
Thanks

No, the technology in Astro Sabers is a controlled export item. You need a license from the State Department to export that type of product. While some types of encrypted hardware has been taken off the list, those radios are still on it and require export authorization.

If you need someone to sell it to if it is a UHF 450-512 split, my Saber III was stolen Sunday night and I need a replacement.

Let me know I am interested. [email protected]

Please post the serial number and options,
and any other identifying info on that radio. It certainly couldn't hurt, and people (at least some) will keep their eyes open for it.

Can you give any info on the theft? Location, suspects, whatever? Anything will help.

And, of course, if you haven't already done so, file a report with the local PD.

Whoever stole it is guilty of felony grand theft. The police will pursue the matter if they have the info.

Don't forget to monitor the channels that are
in the radio...just in case the thief starts transmitting. If he does, it shouldn't be too hard to track him down. Local foxhunters with amateur radio clubs may be willing to help.

The radio was a Saber III 34SAK7139CN SN was not known. The report was files Monday. The radio contained Law Enforcement channels in the area. Jafferson City, TN Close to Knoxville.
The only people that had knowledge of this radio was the local police and sheriff officers, and local firemen. We are a business and they are the only ones that came in. We are not open to the public. The Saber was sitting next to 6 Ericsson MPa Aegis system radios UHF radios, not disturbed, other motorola parts were 3 extra batteries, chargers, speaker mics, etc. for the saber, 2 laptop computers. In this area no one like ericsson but all love motorola and they all have seen my radios. We have a small lead that one of the deputies has been hinting that he got a new radio over the wknd but his wife will not let him take it out till x-mas. He said it is one of those fancy ones. This makes me sick because I work with public safety nationwide everyday and never thought that some of the guys here would do this. I and my wife are also in LE, she is a full time in the next county and I reserve in the next county over.
One of the channels in each bank says USPSS T1 which is our company channel.

Thanks
