If you're referring to eBay seller "threehounds" or something like that, I bought a VOCON from him and it was everything it was supposed to be: as-advertised.

OK- I was hoping not although the guy I bought my stuff from was also selling AS VOCONs and Astro Spectra VOCONs too (I think XTS5K's as well)

At this point, I'd be interested in buying an analog-only VHF XTS3000 or anything for that matter because DSP in analog is pretty awesome. I'd much rather listen to the Analog 800Mhz stuff through my XTS rather than my MTX or Scanner, or MaxTrac (other radios lacking DSP!)
