I think they should start making the one's and two's again. I maintane a fleet of ones at my FD. We also have II's and III's. The few that have III's say that there real good - for skipping across the lake

I heard some rumbling about a possible Minitor 4 in the concept phase but that it wasn't expected to go any further than that. And to reply to the preference of a MII or MIII....I carry a MII but use a MI as my in house alert, it's the only sound that will wake me up in the middle of the night(or day if I'm on midnights). The MI I have I could swear is older than my father, I've only had it 9 years.

I know for a fact from Motorola they will be releasing the IV in April. They told us this on the phone a few weeks ago! It will be very similar to the III but will have the following additional things fixed or added:
voltage issues fixed
better water resistance
new knobs
and i can't remember the few other minor changes

Been reading some of the post on the Minitor 3. Unit has had a lot of probs with it! Don't know about anyone else, I can even get a shematic on it! Can order the case and such, but no internal parts! What's up!
Anyway, been using and selling the Sceptar for roughly 5 months and no probs! Read some earlier post on these folks making the Minitor 3. May be true, but all I know is this Sceptar works! Just trying to help a few depts. out there!

So, what happens to all of us users who have been told for over two years that a fix is coming for the function switch problem?
Both my dealer and Motorola have said that they are still working on the issue.
We have been patient. Yes they gave us the cheezy little nylon cases, but i still find my pager on the wrong channel at times.
I just hope they don't think that we will just forget.
I won't.

There was a memo sent out 2 or 3 years ago to address the M3 issues. If I recall it went something like:
If the pager will not receive low paging frequencies: Change the frequencies being sent.
If the pager doesn't alert in scan: Remove scan.
If the pager doesn't store voice pages for SV models: we're working on it
If the channel selector knobs are loose: "Check them often."
Then they came out with the cases to solve the problem of the selector knob. I wonder who the brain child was for that solution!!!
As for the Minitor 4? Maybe, but I really hope they redesign the receiver and come away from the old "NEC" pager design. Any pager geeks remember the NEC Exec? Look familiar?
