XTS5000 smart battery option???

Post by 10-95 »

I have selected Batt in the menu configuration and when I select batt now on the menu screen I get the message "Smart Batt data not available", is this a firmware issue or is there something else I need to do in the CPS to get it working??

You are using a Motorola Impres battery?

The Impres smart battery system adds another choice which is perfect for some applications. For a typical 'all-day' user and for lowest cost, there is the standard Ni-Cad. For maximum capacity, the Ni-MHi. For lightest weight, the Li-ion.

The impress battery system uses Ni-Cad technology with an embedded microprocessror and sensors to keep track of the exact use of the battery.

Where this technology really shines is in applications like fire-fighters. They grab a radio out of a charger- go out on a call- then put it back in the charger an hour later. This use pattern fries a regular battery in a few months.

The smart battery says to the charger - "I've only been used for an hour - just top me off please". Works great - lasts a long time.

I've been using an impres battery with my 5k for about a year and a half now and they are great. The battery indicator is a little flakey on the radio however - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't even show up.
