need some AS3 advice

Hey Guys,

Got a good working AS3 and I think my MSS is screwing with me.

Whenever I transmitt, either from a shoulder speaker mic or the unit itself Im getting a wierd tunnelling effect or the trans is broken up, I think the mic on the unit is going bad.

My MSS states that the tunneling effect is because of the digital aspects of the radio, and since im not on a digital system, and that they cant fix it or even get it to calm down. Also am noticing a severe RX sens problem, areas where i was getting good rx im loosing etc.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... Also looking for a tech in the Las Vegas Nevada area that can program / work on a AS3 as well as any good MSS shops up there as I will be moving there shortly and possibly have the ability to throw a project out to them.

The tunneling effect happens wether i am transmitting from the Spkr mic or the unit itself.

the RX sens is getting to the point that an Ht1000 that is sitting right next to the radio will grab the signal when my AS3 won't.

Nextel interference isnt an issue wince we are on the UHF band.

Personally I think its a alignment and setting problem for the tunneling and the RX sens but since my MSS shop has checked it out Twice

and they say that they can't do anything for it

i am really looking to go to another shop and see what they can do before I even think about shelling out any more $$ to my local idiots, i mean MSS shop.

Anyone know of a good reputable MSS in Vegas that will deal with the AS 3 ???

What is your shop aligning it with? (IE: Service monitor model) Aligning them is specific, unlike analog. A/D conversions are pretty picky.

The astro series have a vocoder. I assume what you mean by tunneling is the slight delay introduced by the vocoder processing the audio. Although you aren't using it in digital mode the effect is still there. That is because the audio signals are created by the vocoder regardless of the mode.

I experienced the exact same thing today when transmitting on my p25 radio in analog mode. It's just something you have to deal with.

As for any desense, that's another issue al together.
