Yea. They cancel perhaps one of the best product lines since the Spectra and MT1000 and continue to make total crap like the HT1250 line of radios. Typical.

Yup,
Glad I got rid of the waris stuff and bought myself an MTS. I learned my lesson after just missing the saber era (ability to buy new) didn't want to do the same with the jedi's. -J

I think that until Moto has a signififcant upper mgt. "house cleaning" this is want we'll get. Investors need to pull their head out of their *$$ and look at what the mgt. "team" is doing to Moto. I know hear in Boise they are moving away from Moto. I suspect at this pace, Moto will take the rear seat in 5 to 10 years, if not sooner. That's to bad!

Love my JT1000, Saber III & Saber I!

I will have to second that. Normally Motorola issues ITC notifications with dates?

The MTS series are slated for cancellation the end of this year.

I know they tried to cancel the HT 1000s about four or five years ago, and backed down. I wonder if this will be the same?

What Moto is doing is "fishing". Just like casting a few poles to see what bait works, and what bait doesn't, they introduce a couple of new radios a year, see which model(s) sell the best, and then cancel the rest of them. Once again, a good business model............for CEOs.

Jedi series Radios are probably one of the best lines of portables around... in the history of man kind, DON'T DO IT (V), THERE WILL BE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES.

I Just got my HT1000 a while back... and I Love It, too bad i was around 2-3 years old when they were released?

Hope the JEDI Series Stay Around for a really long time, would hate to see them disappear and become rare like the Genesis Series :(
(Unless u want used junk that's usually fawked up beyond repair off of ebay)

I would HATE to see the Jedi series go anyway, that would totally suck, I'm goin to a dealer in a neighboring city (Santa Fe) tomorrow to order a VHF HT1000 in-person, of course i called em today (ahead of time) and they said they are still available for order. (Like i expected, thank gosh :-D)

My Life Would End Without the Jedi Series :x

K maybe im going a lil too far but they are Great Radios. 8)

All good things must come to an end, just like with the analogue Spectra, and the MCS2000 at the end of this year.

What do they expect will adequately replace it? Waris? LOL!

Yes, you know I do not wish to be the guy that says "prove it", but I'm about as in the loop as it gets, and I've seen zero official word on this.

But if it is true, even good things must come to an end, and this line has been in production for eleven years. They have been increasing the sticker price over the last couple of years to squeeze as much profit out as they can get. For VHF 16 modes, MSRP is $1228. HT750 on the other hand, stickers at $800.

11 or 12 years seems to be the standard lifetime for a /\/\ radio. How old was the analog Spectra when they nuked it?

I feel quite passionate about this topic. Lots of people use this board to gain ACCURATE information about Motorola products and services. People that intentionally post bad, wrong or untruthful information need to be exposed.

So here I go...

Smsm, Please provide proof of you statement that the Jedi series is being cancelled. :D

why are you willfully putting out disinformation? The "JEDI" has a few dates as follows:

Ht1000 (memo states includes JT1000 though it is supposed to be gone now) cancellation on last day of December 2005

MT2000 / MTS2000 last day of December of 2006

This is per my account manager at "M" in schaumburg. Anybody that wants to argue it can tell Motorola they are wrong.

Nah, it already speaks for itself as the best analog radio they ever made and to date the best quality radio (portable) they have ever made available to the industry. No need to increase the sales by playing games, just be honest and show construction and performance compared to waris!

You haven't been a member much longer than him. Yes, I can view & compare his IP, and it doesn't match with any other member. As it stands, he's posting from Slovakia...maybe it's for cancellations overseas? Here's a link to the dealer the IP originates from:

I will lock the thread if it continues to spiral downhill. Give him an opportunity to respond. English isn't his native language, obviously, and what he posted regarding cancellations wasn't originally written by him...obviously.

Hello:

I can't say I know everyone on the Hill. but pretty close.

Since I have just seen this post, I have a memo into
the Business Solutions Sector, and I will put to rest
if this is true or not.

Mant times " Intent to Cancel " is given to salesman to
advise their customers about a last chance oppertunitly
to purchase radios.

Sounds like someone wants to sell some radios to me.

HI:

Ever since Motorola dump their premium personeel, one
can get mixed reports. I have taken up a VIP's time who
is right smack in the middle of the Gov Business Solutions
Sector, and this is what was reported to me as of 6-15-2004

I will say the post concerning all of the jedi Series radios
listed in the Top Post is NOT ACCURATE !

=======================================

ONLY Jedi radio series that has been cancelled is the HT1000
(all bands). No orders can be placed after
Sept. 30, 2004
.

MTS2000 all-bands have not been cancelled as yet.

The LTS series have also been cancelled. No orders can be placed after 6/30/04.

Also, some of the ultra cheapies..CP series

This is Accurate as of June 15, 2004 in the US

As quoted right from the fellows desk that makes

ONLY THE HT1000 ( ALL BANDS ) Has been
cancelled

Hello:

I am sorry, I guess I was not clear, so I will try again.

Hello:

1. For my purposes, I really do not need to reverify. I have
enough HT1000's in stock to satisfy my customer needs and
calling my friend to revarify a low tier issue when they are
addressing 25~50 Million Dollar proposals is not always viewed
well.

You indicated you just placed a order for 2 HT1000's this morning.

Its June 16th, 2004 last time I looked. The Intent
to Cancel on the HT1000's ( ALL BANDS )is as follows:

No orders can be placed after Sept. 30, 2004.

So, one can still order HT1000's up and until that time.

Scanman:
As I said last of dec 2005 for the HT1000
In all due respects, the information you have been
given is not valid, perhaps its a old memo.If you still
want a HT1000 I would strongly urge you to make a
purchase on or before Sept 30th 2004. If you wait
after that time, you will be SOL.

I guess I will have to post a formal Intent to Cancel Sheet
concerning the HT1000's when he becomes availible again.

I will try and do that in a few days or as time permits and
you can then believe whom ever you have most faith in

Since I have a lot of faith in the VIP whom I have known for
over 20 Years, I do not think he would lead me astry. I have
all to often got poor information from a phone call. Since the
layoffs started in 1999, I have not gotton to much of a
stright answer out of Motorola in years.

They seem to do things there way and not pay any antention
to the Low Tier dealer sector. One main reasons dealers
are changing thier marketing stratigies all the time.
=============================================

Scanman:
I mentioned the "JT" they laughed.
My response to the JT still stands:

Last time I looked, a HT1000 is not a JT1000

Soon as I can get the formal Cancellation Sheet ( which I will
have to blot out the prices ) I will post it here, hopefully that
will put to rest the issue.

Hello:

So persons will not take the information wrong, the link
Scanman provided is for " MANUALS " for discontinued radios !

As Quoted from the link.

Discontinued Radios
Below is a list of available Discontinued Radio Manuals.

If you do not see what you are looking for or have
additional questions, please email Motorola at:
customercare.services@motorola.com

Also, this is most likely some propritory information which
was given to me, before the dealers even become aware.

Most Dealers get notified in general notices that get sent
out; always keep in mind, Motorola has 1000's of Dealers
all over the place, and not all of them get the information
at excatly the same time.

Also correct on the manuals. Seems they would like to see the Astro saber go into the sunset. another perfectly great radio bit the big one way before it's time and they dont seem to want to help keep it around longer then the 5 year stipulation.

Gentleman,

I very rarely post however the person is correct, I just came from a Motorola seminar today 6-16-2004, and the Product manager for the XTS series stated the HT and some MT models will go away by end of year to be replaced by XTS 1500, 3000 and 5000 . He further stated that the price of the XTS 1500 is about $ 20.00 more that the HT 1000

XTS is available in 700/800 & VHF , UHF will be in q4

Also there is a new Mobile coming to replace Astro series. he stated the transciver changes out but you can still used old control heads and cables with a provided adapter.

I think you mean MT1500, and I was joing to suggest MT1500 as a replacement especally because it uses audio accessories from jedi, and battery products from XTS (because of form factor.) This might been seen as a way into "easing" customers in to digital XTS' further down the line (since they already have batteries, belt clips, and expensive gang chargers, that shaves off $$ and lends justification for the leap.) MT1500 dosen't look half bad.....jsut a grey, analog only xts Mod. I

Hello:

One thing you have in your favor !

1. HT1000's will be around long after Motorola stops
the production of them....Many Dealers out there have
them ! So U should be covered there.

2. No orders can be placed after Sept. 30, 2004.

So, you have a few MONTHS before anything will happen for
sure !

Soon as I get the New Gov Price Sheet that the Salesman
Gets, I will make a jpg of it ( and the Intent to Cancel Date )

I am sorry, I must blot out the Prices !
