Astro Saber II Newbie

I am currently in the market for a Astro portable. I would like to listen to what I believe is APCO25/Astro 'Conventional' non-trunked? transmissions. I would also like to be able to analog TX on a frequency allocated to the company I work for @ ~ 450MHz.

Some questions :

Will a radio H04RDF9PW7AN flashed with 180001-000000-9 work ok for this?
How many channels does the Astro Saber II store?
Does the Astro Saber II do CTCSS and DCS?
Which version of the RSS do I need to program the Saber II?
Can one repack the battery cells inside a Saber battery pack?

I know I can probably find this information somewhere in the specifications but I'm a little bit confused/new to Motorola portables.

4. To program the ASTRO saber II, or any astro saber (or any other radio) , you need at least whatever version was last used on it.

5. I have a feeling Monty will comment here. The packs are sealed up pretty good, and I bet someone has tried this, but not with good results.

yeahh, those thing are hard to repack... not worth doing it anyways, rather just geting another.

I've tried recelling the 1800mAh "tall boy" but it was a royal PITA and I gave up. After you cut it open to swap the cells you'll need either a good super glue or silicon(I wouldn't though) to hold the case together and all it'd take is one drop and it'd probably reopen on you.

A good battery should last you for couple of years...... espically those Tall one, which usually comes in 2700mah now..

would probably be spending like 35-70 bucks every 2 years.. or soo....

Just wish Multilplier Sold there 1800mah med cap battery cheaper then there Big Tall High cap 2700mah... never understood that....
