Special Cable/RIB needed for Spectra?

I'd like to read an ASTRO Spectra, and am wondering if my standard RIB and 15 pin Spectra cable will work? I've searched the forum for the answer, but didn't see a specific reference to this kind of a setup.

Is the version 8 & 9 RSS out there strictly for the XTS portables and other Astro equipment, or would it work for this as well?

Any pointers would be a great help...

If you are using 8 or 9, that's DOS. SO, are you typing "astrom" to get the program running? (Astrop is the portable version)

Do you have an Astro Spectra, or Astro Spectra +? (Model number would help)

Are you getting any errors when you read it?

Can you read any other astro spectras?

To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a Spectra or a Spectra+... so:

MN: D04RKF9PW5AN and the FlashCode is 100001-001800-7 and it says "1 MEG"..

The RSS I have is 8.5 for DOS. I guess the ASTROM program is what I would want?

If it's a plain Astro Spectra, will the standard Spectra low power 15 pin cable work?

Well, the good news is that it isn't a Plus, because I was just able to read it (sort of) with v6.5 .. although I got the "Codeplug too new" message. So, I guess the only burning question left is that of software compatibility.

I guess I need the latest DOS version, or is there a chance that it could have been programmed with CPS?

Any way to roll it back?

The latest DOS RSS version is 9.5, which is compatible right up to CPS 2.xx...anything from CPS 3.0 & up is not compatible with DOS RSS 9.5

You can 'roll back' the radio if you have either the original saved codeplug in an earlier RSS version, or an identical (model#, flashcode#) codeplug saved with an earlier version. Just program or clone in the codeplug & you're ready to go.
