Program XTS3000 to scan digital system?

Post by Mercenary »

I'm sure this question has been asked here befour, but i just want to make sure the radio can do this befour i spend my money. Is it possibly to program a XTS3000 model 1 and/or model 2 radio to receive and follow digital APCO-25 talkgroups on a 3600 baud trunked system without the radio affiliating with the system and if so, how do i go about doing it. Can it be programmed to do rx only. Also are there any special features i will need to make sure are flashed into the radio to monitor and follow talkgroups on the system. Information on the system is in the link below. Thanks.

Quick answer is yes, but not worth it if that's all your going to do with it. The radio limits you to 10 talkgroups in the scan list, vs 1000 with a scanner. Will not decode private calls or anything else like that.

Digital System type

One small correction: APCO 25 is 9600 baud on the signalling channel, not 3600. The original poster probably meant that the system uses IMBE vocoding, which is the same format used by P25 on the voice channels.

There is already a lot of confusion about digital and P25, and it is going to get worse when Phase 2 comes out. We experts might as well speak in the most accurate terms as possible.
