I have an MCS2000 on 800 Model III. I have some other emergency equipment in the veh. Every so often when I hit my airhorn on the siren, the MCS will 'look' to power off. But thet strange thing is the display powers off, but the keys remain illuminated. I'm unfamiliar with why this is happening. I have watched the voltage on the 'power' going to the distrubution panel and it never drops 13.3 or so when the radio is ON and i activate the airhorn.
Could the MCS be reacting to a voltage drop like that? Or am I completely off base?
If anyone has any advise, I'd really appreciate the post.
Thanks!!!

It's a strange problem for sure. First, I'm assuming the install was done by a qualified shop & is properly grounded. Have you checked for a voltage drop at the radio end, while the radio's hooked up, as opposed to the distribution panel? Could be a corroded power or ignition cable. If that seems ok, then do you have the equipment required to check for spikes or transients on the power line when the siren is activated? A good oscilloscope is a must. You could just try wiring in a good quality DC filter & see if that helps your case. Also try wiring the radio to another power point or even straight to the battery. Let us know if there's still troubles.
