<b><font color=lime>Hi:

Are you speaking of a GM300 or a GP300
Conversion?

In any case, yes a conversion can
be made, however, you must be able
to start from a Blank Board and
conventional methods DO NOT work
on GM300's.

What radios do you own?: APX4K, XTL5K, NX5200, NX700HK

If you're talking about gp300s, all you have to do is hack the RSS with the methods shown on this site (batlabs.com). The specific method shows how to program any GP300 codeplug into the GP300 radio. Then, all you have to do is program the 8 channel (or 16 channel) codeplug into the GP300(granted it is an early 1994 or older radio), and you'll have yourself an 8 (or 16) channel GP300 radio. Unfortunately, you'll be stuck with the same serial numbers programmed into all 3 radios you plan on programming.

You don't need to load a code plug from a different radio. Apply the changes noted in the second Hoffis doc to the RSS to disable encryption of the saved codeplug file. Read each radio, and modify the model number in each file to a 16-channel model number (as Hoffis describes). Write them back out to the radios. This leaves the correct serial number in each radio.

However, he appears to be interested in GM300s, which may be a different ball game.
